The method in the madness

Watercolor is a fickle medium at best. Having painted in watercolor for over 30 years in a wet on wet style using 140b cold press cotton rag paper it was time to experiment. Working on plate surfaces proved to be a new challenge. Claybord by Ampersand, Yupo paper and illustration board became the surfaces to conquer.

It took a few years to get the hang of it and the joy is that there is still much to explore. I am looking forward to the journey.

I use non traditional tools on a nontraditional surface and the result is emotional and spiritual. There was a lot of trial and error before I found the results I thought were acceptable.
